Thai labor market

The manufacturing industries in Taiwan that currently offer favorable employment conditions and good income primarily include the electronic components manufacturing industry, the electrical appliance manufacturing industry, and the electrical equipment and tools manufacturing industry. These industries have experienced significant growth and collectively require approximately 15,000–18,000 foreign workers annually. Filipino workers hold the largest market share at 63.92%, followed by Thai workers, who account for 23.58% of the market.

The reason Thai workers hold a smaller market share in these three manufacturing sectors compared to Filipino workers is that there are fewer Thai workers who meet the employers’ desired qualifications. These qualifications include having a high school diploma, vocational certificate (ปวช.), or advanced vocational certificate (ปวส.), possessing good English communication skills for work, and expressing a willingness to work in Taiwan. Therefore, to increase the market share of Thai workers in this industrial sector, it is necessary to develop a larger pool of Thai workers who are willing to work in Taiwan and equip them with the qualifications and behaviors that align with market demands.
