The labor issues faced by Thai workers in Taiwan primarily involve employers failing to comply with laws and employment contracts. These issues include changing to new contracts, reducing benefits, terminating contracts prematurely, deducting wages to prevent workers from fleeing, assigning tasks outside the agreed job scope, and overcharging taxes, among others.
Currently, the problem of drug abuse among Thai workers in Taiwan is escalating. Drug gangs lure workers into drug use, offering drugs on credit if they lack money. As debts accumulate, workers are coerced into becoming dealers, making it easier for drugs to spread across factories. Thai workers addicted to drugs are often sent back prematurely by employers due to their inability to work. Some even transition into becoming drug trafficking agents while working abroad.
