On February 18, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM local time, Mr. Nuthchyawach Sanguanchaiyakrit, the Minister Counsellor, along with Mr. Wichian Chompoonog, Counsellor, and Mr. Anan Petchchoo (Clerk), carried out a Labour inspection visit in Kaohsiung City. The purpose was to examine the working conditions and living standards of Thai labours in various industries, including aluminum production, yacht shipbuilding, metal fabrication, and small-scale construction, covering a total of 53 workers.
The inspection revealed that employment conditions complied with regulations, and the laborers’ living standards met the required benchmarks. During this visit, it was found that 9 workers had recently started their employment in Taiwan within the past two months, all of whom had a net monthly income exceeding 25,000 Taiwan dollars. For workers with over 9 years of experience, their net income (after deductions) ranged between 30,000 and 40,000 Taiwan dollars.
Through conversations with the workers, it was learned that Thai labours are highly regarded by their employers. Senior workers also provide guidance and training to newer arrivals. During the visit, the Director of the Thai Labour Office emphasized the importance of avoiding involvement with drugs, gambling, or accumulating debt from loans. Workers were encouraged to remain diligent and earn the trust and affection of their employers, thereby enhancing the positive image of Thai labours and creating more opportunities to expand the Thai labour market in Taiwan.
